Some nights in Paris are just different. Bastille Day is one of them. If you've ever watched it from a crowded bridge or squeezed onto the Champ-de-Mars with half the city, you'll know there's a better way. From the Seine, the Eiffel Tower fills the entire sky. No jostling, no blocked views - just the river, the lights, and one of those evenings you don't forget.
The cruises on offer are all quite different, which is actually the point. The Joce dinner cruise leans into the celebration - live music, a proper sit-down dinner, dancing until 1am, and a glass of champagne for the fireworks. The Chansonnier is smaller and more relaxed, with shared tables and a genuinely friendly atmosphere on board. The Ivoire takes a longer route past Notre-Dame, the Grand Palais and the Assemblée Nationale before anchoring right in front of the Eiffel Tower - great if you want to make a full evening of it. The Tosca is the cosy option: a set dinner, a scenic cruise, and a front-row stop for the fireworks. Straightforward and lovely.
If an open-air terrace sounds more your style, the Diamant Bleu has a panoramic deck with lounge music and a DJ later in the evening. For something lighter, the champagne fireworks cruise keeps things simple - departure at 10pm from the Île de la Cité, a glass of bubbly, and one of the best seats in Paris for the show. At the other end of the spectrum, the gala cruise on a luxury barge is a full evening in itself: a Paradis Latin cabaret show, Lenôtre cuisine, Bollinger champagne flowing freely, and the fireworks from the deck. And then there are the Bateaux Mouches - an iconic Paris experience, with panoramic windows, champagne, and a gourmet dinner on board.
Prices run from €199 to €500 per person. Two of the cruises are already fully booked, which tells you something about how quickly July 14th fills up. Worth having a look at the details sooner rather than later - departure points, timings and menus all vary, and the right one really comes down to what kind of evening you're looking for.
